The technology in vehicles has evolved tremendously over the last decade. Today, sophisticated electronic systems are used to control the engine management, brakes, traction control, transmission and all other mechanical devices found in the car. More often than not, it is this very electronic system that malfunction as a result of thermal and vibration wear resulting in mechanical faults.

There are 3 main components that function together within the vechicle's electronics system:

1.Electronic Firmware
This refers to the sensors and processing unit that control the mechanical devices in the car. Over time and increased mileage, the same sensors will malfunction and require replacement or maintenance.

2.Electrical Connection
This is the electrical wiring and connectors that links power supply and sensors to the electronic firmware found throughout the car. Poor electrical connections can result in short circuits and malfunctions in the electronics due to inconsistent or lack of readings in the processing units. The technical staff at Garage R is trained to keep a sharp eye out for these minute details. The long process of laying out the wires properly, insulating from heat and getting precise connections are painstakingly carried out by our attentive staff to ensure that problems do not arise due to inexperienced or poor workmanship. This also helps in the trouble shooting process when vehicles break down. This is especially important for when we build race cars for competitive use, in which a breakdown due to electrical faults can make or break a race.

3.Software Management
Each processing unit has a software system as its control. The most important unit that affects the performance of the engine is its Engine Control Unit (ECU) where the engine management system controls the fuel and ignition timing. At Garage R, we utilize a wide range of engine management systems such as the HKS F-CON V Pro, F-CON iS, Motec, ECUTEK, and MTE systems to tune both Japanese and European cars.

At Garage R, we are constantly researching and acquiring new technology and updates for vehicle electronics systems, with a special focus on engine management systems. There is no substitute for performance.
