Nothing seems to have change over these years, our customer’s cars are always the first priority and the company’s demo cars would come second.

It’s the 29th April, 8 pm on a Thursday evening and our devoted Technical Specialists are still making final adjustments for the 1st shakedown of our HKS/Garage R 580 HP Mitsubishi Evolution X in Sepang International Circuit for the MPT time attack event on the next morning.

The shakedown was not only for the car but also the company’s test driver Mr Lester Wong as he has not drove on that track for the past two years(due to work and family commitment),the primary objective was to run the car but more to prepare him for the coming 1000Km endurance race in early June

It was a fine morning but the fatigue soon kicked in due to the drive from Singapore to Sepang the previous night, after strapping on the helmet, Lester took the Evo X out on its track debut. The initial testing were good, just a slight under steer due to the worn Advan 048s which lacked grip but still showed a promising time of 2.30 to 2.29. And it had to happen, a misfiring problem around 6000-7000 revs soon surfaced and it was time for the time attack! Plugs were replaced and it was Lester’s turn to hit the track, He turn on the air conditioning as he only wanted to trace the misfiring occurrence during the warm up lap and realized the problem persisted! But he went for it anyways as the boost level was set lower to prevent any undesirable damage to the engine.

To his surprise, he was told that he clocked a lap time of 2 minutes 27 seconds making it the fastest timing of the day and also a new record for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X! All this done with a misfiring problem and the air conditioning on! Stay tuned with us as we will be back for a faster time with more power and the air conditioning off.
